Thermoplastic

Thermoplastics are thermoformed with heat and solidified when cooled down. Thermoplastic can even be heated and cooled several times. This has significant recycling benefits by allowing plastic waste and old thermoplastic products to be melted and reused. Due to its many advantages, thermoplastics are the most successful plastics in the world and are used in both everyday items and high-tech products. They combine advantages that are essential for a lightweight construction of products, but also design elements such as different colors, graining and the possibility of film lamination.

Applications of Thermoplastics

Versatile for lightweight construction elements

ABS & ABS composite with ASA, PMMA, TPU

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is characterized by its very good impact strength even at low temperatures. ABS also has good resistance to heat and chemicals. Thus, it can be used for a wide range of applications. We also process composite panels made of ABS with ASA (weather-resistant and impact-resistant), ABS with PMMA (UV and weather-resistant) or ABS with TPU (scratch-resistant, abrasion-resistant with a soft touch).

PS & HIPS

We process molded parts made of PS or HIPS (high-impact polystyrene). These are characterized by different surface glosses, increased voltage and UV resistance. However, they can also be modified in many ways for special requirements. Mainly we process plates to manufacture cases from high-impact polystyrene and polyethylene. It has a very good cold impact strength and stability.

Polycarbonate (PC)

PC is characterized by a combination of excellent impact strength, dimensional stability, heat resistance and electrical properties. Polycarbonate offers designers and engineers a degree of design freedom through the flexibility of the material. It has good thermoforming properties and can be made into a high quality product.

Product Examples made of Thermoplastic Materials

Thermoplastics have various positive properties and can be modified to protect against heat, electricity, UV and high loads. They can be soft and malleable like rubber, or hard and resistant like metal. Some thermoplastics withstand extremely high temperatures while others can withstand only low temperatures.
